Course Overview
On this Level 6 top-up degree programme, you will further develop your understanding of the theory and practice of modern construction management. Throughout the course, you will have the opportunities and support needed to develop the core intellectual, digital and professional skills required to excel in the sector. The modules of the course will introduce you to key concepts in project management, contract law, dispute resolution and cutting-edge site practices.
As a construction professional, you will need to be ahead of the game with your understanding and analysis of the latest thinking around sustainable development and digital fluency. For this reason, dedicated focus on modern methods of construction, green innovation and risk management will ensure your knowledge is current with industry regulations and professional body requirements, such as the CIOB. The practical work and authentic assessments throughout the course focus directly on what you would encounter in the professional world: reporting, evaluating site practices, managing project timelines, collaborative problem-solving and presenting business cases.

Assessment
You will be assessed in a wide range of ways that test your construction knowledge and project management skills. These include reports, portfolios, academic posters, group presentations and practical problem-solving tasks that simulate real-world industry scenarios.
You will be required to work in your own time to complete research, homework tasks or group work. Self-study is vital to your success on this course and lecturers will give you guidance on how best to approach this throughout the study period.
Assessment methods at GBS are reviewed annually and may be updated based on student feedback, to suit content or based upon feedback from an External Examiner. An External Examiner is an independent academic expert from an external Higher Education Institution that acts as a safeguard to academic assessment standards.

Tuition fees for Home students may increase in subsequent years, both for new and continuing students, in line with an inflationary amount determined by the government.
