Please note: The modules listed are those currently offered and may be subject to change through our ongoing review processes. However, the core learning outcomes and themes will remain largely consistent. 

Assessment on the HND  is designed to enable students to demonstrate individually that they have met the aims of the programme and achieved the learning outcomes at programme and unit levels. There are no formal examinations required for this programme. Assessments are undertaken in various ways, including: 

  • Presentations with observation records 

  • Reports/Project reports 

  • In-class time-controlled assessments 

  • Work-based projects 

  • Professional discussions 

  • Interview/role play recordings 

  • Logbooks/reflective journals 

  • Time-constrained assessments 

  • Writing an assignment/report/essay 

  • Analysing a case study 

You will be required to work in your own time to complete research, homework tasks or group work. Self-study is vital to your success in this course and lecturers will give you guidance on how best to approach this throughout the study period. 

Assessment methods at GBS are reviewed annually and may be updated based on student feedback, in line with developments in the subject area or based upon feedback from an External Examiner. An External Examiner is an independent academic expert from a Higher Education Institution that acts as a safeguard to academic standards. 

Applicants Must be Aged 18+ and: 

  • Have a Level 3 qualification or an Access to Higher Education certificate.
  • Demonstrate English proficiency: GCSE 4/C or CEFR B2. If you do not have this qualification, you can carry out an English test provided at a GBS campus.
  • Pass an Academic interview.

Applicants Aged 21+:

  • We welcome applications from students 21+ who do not match the standard entry requirements but who can demonstrate willingness and commitment to studying this subject, and who can evidence academic, professional or vocational experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrate English proficiency: GCSE 4/C or CEFR B2. If you do not have this qualification, you can carry out an English test provided at a GBS campus.

Following the Government’s announcement that Undergraduate tuition fees for UK Undergraduate students will change for students enrolling or re-enrolling after 1 August 2026, GBS has updated the Fees information, as shown above. 

Tuition fees for Home students may increase in subsequent years both for new and continuing students in line with an inflationary amount determined by the government.

Funding Your Study
 
You may be able to borrow money from the UK Government to help pay your tuition fees and to help with your living costs while studying. 
 
This could take the form of a Tuition Fee Loan to cover the cost of your tuition fees, and/or a Maintenance Loan to support you with living costs whilst studying.

Upon completion of the programme, graduates are equipped to enter employment in roles requiring personal responsibility and decision-making or progress to degree-level study. HND in Business graduates could consider diverse career paths in areas such as:

The HND in Business course is available across ten campuses in Birmingham, London, Leeds and Manchester. All four destinations will give you the facilities to excel in the classroom while providing a great selection of things to see and do during your leisure time.

The HND in Business course is delivered over two days per week (weekdays) from 9:45am to 3:15 pm providing the flexibility you need for a balanced lifestyle inside and out of the classroom.

The HND in Business course will enable you to learn the key skills that will be essential for operating in many areas of the business world. Level 4 lays the foundations of learning by providing a broad introduction to business functions like marketing, HRM and accounting principles. Level 5 provides specialist focus in areas such as organisational behaviour, global business environment, business strategy and digital marketing.

There are no formal examinations required during this course.  Assessments are undertaken in various ways, including presentations with observation records, project reports, in-class time-controlled assessments, professional discussions, role plays, reflective journals, and case study analysis. You will be required to work in your own time to complete research, homework tasks or group work. Self-study is an essential component of your success during this course.
