Global Banking School (GBS) received a Bronze award in the recent Teaching Excellent Framework ratings with our student outcomes being judged as high quality and our student experience as very high quality in all areas.
Prof Lloyd, GBS CEO, said: “This is a very welcome endorsement of the work we have been doing over many years to provide high quality educational opportunities to more and more students who would otherwise have no access to higher education. The recognition of our student experience as being of very high quality was particularly pleasing as caring for our students are at the heart of our values. Our silver for this aspect is testament to the talent of all of our staff and their willingness to support students.”
The Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) is a national scheme run by the Office for Students (OfS). This scheme is designed to help higher education providers improve their quality and standards in key areas including teaching, learning and giving students the best chance to excel during their studies.
TEF assessments are made against a set of minimum requirements for quality and standards. The TEF student contact is responsible for gathering views and opinions from students, which is at the core of TEF grading alongside a panel of independent academics. All institutions involved in this process receive an overall rating with two underpinning ratings, which cover levels of student experience and student outcomes.
GBS has demonstrated excellence across a range of key areas to gain a coveted ‘Silver’ rating award. The TEF assessed GBS as being a provider of ‘very high-quality’ standards in teaching and assessment, course content and delivery, research and innovation, Staff professional development, academic practice, learning environment, academic support, learning resources and student engagement in improvement.
The TEF assessment panel also highlighted the value of widening participation across under-represented student groups and the positive impact GBS is having on driving academic standards in a positive direction.
