This Construction Management (Level 6 Top-up) programme has been designed to meet the needs of the construction industry, suitably connecting you to your future career to manage construction projects from inception and design through to occupation. By developing your skills in management, you will learn to deliver construction projects safely, on time, on budget and to the highest possible quality and construction standards.

This programme offers you detailed knowledge of construction management and develops the key skills relevant to understanding the complexity of construction projects. You will have an opportunity to learn about the immediate and long-lasting effect which construction activities have on the environment and discover sustainable and environmentally sound construction methods and innovative management practices.

This programme has social innovation and sustainability embedded in its core. You will have an opportunity to learn through creative social problem solving to develop intellectual and practical competence, as required by professional bodies, such as the CIOB.

Upon completion of this programme, you will understand the principles of construction technology, professional practice, ethics, health and safety, as well as professional, legal, business and managerial aspects relevant to the construction industry. The programme will provide an opportunity for you to become a construction professional who has expertise in construction management and can work effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds and construction disciplines.

Assessment on the course is designed to provide suitable opportunities for all students to demonstrate a full range of knowledge, skills and competences that are key in construction management. Assessment methods include essays, reports, real-life simulations, presentations, projects and group debate.

You will be required to work in your own time to complete research, homework tasks or group work. Self-study is vital to your success on this course and lecturers will give you guidance on how best to approach this throughout the study period.

Assessment methods at GBS are reviewed annually and may be updated based on student feedback, in line with developments in the subject area or based upon feedback from an External Examiner. An External Examiner is an independent academic expert from an external Higher Education Institution that acts as a safeguard to academic assessment standards.

Please note that fees are subject to change. Following the recent government announcement, we expect to increase our undergraduate tuition fees for UK students from the start of the 2025/26 academic year. Fees for the 2025/26 academic year will be published in due course.
