And if you're considering a higher education institution that offers a welcoming environment, flexible programmes, and a strong focus on career support, GBS is the perfect place for you.

Global Banking School’s (GBS) guide to "Clearing 2024” will help you understand what clearing is, how to apply and when to do so, so you can make the most of this opportunity. Clearing 2024 is a crucial opportunity for students in the UK to secure a place in higher education. This guide provides an overview of the Clearing process, key dates and essential steps for prospective students considering GBS.

What is Clearing?

Clearing is a process that allows higher education institutions to fill any remaining places on their courses. It's open to students who applied for an undergraduate course through Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) but haven't received any offers. Clearing provides a second chance to students without offers to pursue their higher education ambitions. It's a dynamic system where you can search for courses that still have vacancies and apply directly to the higher education institutions.

Can I use Clearing 2024?

If you are looking to secure a spot on a new course, Clearing could be the perfect solution. It is available to students who:

  • are applying after the main deadline of 30 June
  • have paid the £27 multiple-choice application fee
  • didn't receive any offers or didn't meet the conditions of your offers
  • didn't get the grades needed for chosen course
  • decided to change mind about course or institution
  • finished A-levels or equivalent qualifications earlier than expected
  • declined your firm place using the 'decline my place' button in the application

FAQs about Clearing 2024

To explore available courses through UCAS Clearing, you should log into your UCAS account or set one up if you don't have one yet.

You can access listings of numerous courses offered by nearly every higher education institution participating in Clearing.

Once you find a course of interest, you should directly contact the institution to inquire about the possibility of being accepted. To know more about Clearing in GBS, call our hotline number at +44 (0)20 8092 9440.

It is important to note that when reaching out to a higher institution, you should have essential information ready, including your UCAS personal ID number, Clearing number, email address and phone number. You will also need to provide your A-level or equivalent qualifications, like BTECs and relevant GCSE results.

If your exam results do not meet the requirements of the conditional offer you expected, you will automatically be entered into Clearing on results day, unless the higher education institution has already confirmed your place.

If the educational institution agrees to consider you for the course, you should add the Clearing choice to your application, making it official.

In the event of receiving multiple Clearing offers over the phone or email, you should take the time to consider the best option. Making a hasty decision is not recommended. You can visit educational institution websites or follow up with a call to get more information about opportunities to visit, available accommodations for Clearing applicants and other relevant details.

For more information about Clearing 2024, you can find details on the UCAS website under "Clearing."

  1. Go to the 'Your choices' section of the UCAS application.

  2. Click on 'Add Clearing choice'.

  3. Only add a higher education institution as a Clearing choice if you have already been in contact with the institution and the institution has indicated that you can offer a place for the discussed course.

  4. If you are certain about the course and the institution and want to enter through Clearing 2024, you should click on 'Add Clearing choice'.

  5. Provide the required details of the course, including the correct title and course code, along with the name and UCAS code of the education institution.

  6. Keep in mind that only one Clearing choice can be added at a time and adding a specific course and institution means that you will be accepting that Clearing offer.

  7. If the education institution confirms the place, it will be shown as an acceptance on your 'choices' page in the UCAS application.

  8. If the higher education institution does not confirm the Clearing place, you can then add another Clearing choice.

If you have a firm offer from an institution but wish to apply to a different course or education institution, you have the option to self-release from the offer and enter Clearing. Before taking this step, it's essential to be completely certain that you have a verbal offer from another institution and genuinely intend to enter Clearing. To proceed, you should log into your UCAS Hub account and click on 'decline my place' next to the course you want to be released from.

Clearing Plus is a service specifically designed to assist you in reviewing your higher education institution choices. It works by matching you to alternative courses that you might be interested in and facilitating direct communication with the respective higher education institutions. This valuable service is intended to help you manage the process of Clearing 2024.

After completing the A-level exams, if you have received conditional offers for admission, you can check your UCAS application status on A-level Results Day.

To find out if you have secured a place, you should look for the status "firmly accepted" on your application. The status will indicate whether the place is at your firm choice or insurance choice institution, along with the specific course you have been accepted onto.

If you didn't achieve the grades you were aiming for and couldn't secure a place in your firm or insurance choice, you will automatically be placed into Clearing. The application status will indicate that you are in Clearing and provide you with a Clearing number.

You can begin searching for available Clearing places once you’ve received your clearing number. The UCAS website will display courses with available Clearing vacancies, and you should get in touch with the higher education institutions directly to discuss your options. Before adding an institution as your Clearing choice, it is essential to speak to the education institution first.
