We are delighted to announce that Jehangir Muhammad, GBS Lecturer for Canterbury Christ Church University, has been nominated for an Order of the British Empire (OBE) award.
This is an incredible acknowledgement in recognition of Jehangir’s life work in higher education in the UK and Pakistan. He was nominated by Dr David L. Gosling from Cambridge University, who has witnessed the unwavering commitment of Jehangir, to widen access to education and in particular for women in Pakistan. One of the initiatives was enabling women to attend a college in Peshawar, which was a partnership between Pearson and Edwardes College in Pakistan, studying HND Business.
Jehangir, told us: “I feel honoured to be nominated for such a distinguished award in the UK. Throughout my career I have always been an advocate for widening access to education, it has been a privilege to do this and now be recognised for my efforts. I am grateful to everyone who has supported me and enabled these initiatives to happen.”
Within GBS, Jehangir has been awarded for his commitment to employability attaining the Platinum Award, which is the highest recognition for lecturers. He was awarded the Star Lecturer Award and recognised by staff and students in 2022 at the regional and grand final all staff awards for the ‘Most Inspirational Teacher of the Year’ award.
