Imran Younas’ journey is a powerful example of how education can reignite purpose and unlock new opportunities. With a strong background in business, Imran once felt limited by his lack of formal healthcare qualifications while working in the medical devices sector. Despite his experience, progression felt out of reach.
Inspired by personal experiences caring for his mother and by the healthcare professionals in his community, Imran made the bold decision to return to education. He joined the GBS HNC in Healthcare Practice (Healthcare Management), a move that transformed both his confidence and career direction.
The course helped Imran contextualise his existing business expertise within the healthcare sector, strengthening his understanding of the NHS and patient-centred care. Alongside his studies, he completed a placement in a local care home and began volunteering with RUOE (Reach, Unite, Outreach Empowerment), supporting young people’s wellbeing and development.
Today, Imran is thriving as a Business Development Manager, working with NHS trusts across the Midlands to deliver innovative surgical solutions. Having completed both HNC and HND levels, he is now studying for a BSc (Hons) in Health, Wellbeing and Social Care, with aspirations to become a lecturer and inspire others through education.
Reflecting on his journey, Imran encourages others to embrace change:
“Sometimes the experience you already have is more powerful than you realise. We’re all multi-dimensional.”
