Black History Month at GBS
Global Banking School (GBS) is proud to announce a range of events and initiatives to recognise Black History Month this October.
This is a significant time of the year for many of our staff and students, and it’s important we recognise them across our London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds campuses. We will carry out internal events that features their perspectives as well as other awareness raising activities like film screenings, guest speakers and competitions.
Consultant Lecturer for Learning and Teaching, Peter Emelone, said GBS takes a year-round approach to Black History Month.
“While this month is really important, it isn’t enough to celebrate the contribution of this community to GBS and society in general.
We have an extremely diverse workforce and student body across the UK that we’re proud of, which means placing emphasis on these initiatives is all the more important.
We will be running a range of events during this important month and one of particular note - which we would like to invite members of the public to attend virtually - is our ‘Reclaiming Narratives Talk’ taking place on 24th October featuring Imogeen Denton.
She is the Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion for Birmingham City University, and will provide critical insights into the significance of Black History Month, as well as draw on lessons from her 20 years’ experience working with marginalised communities.
I encourage everyone to get involved in these wonderful events taking place here and across the country but also to consider ongoing engagement, learning and reflection throughout the entire year.”
GBS invites you to be part of conversations during Black History Month.
